ABOUT US
The church of God in Methil (we relocated to Buckhaven in the 1980s) was planted in 1892 following years of debate among fellow Christians about the constitutional basis of the New Testament churches of God and whether it as possible to re-establish these churches today, under a united elderhood, as was taught by the apostles and practised by the very first fellowship of churches.
Our spiritual forefathers believed it WAS possible to model our teaching and practice on the New Testament churches of God. By God’s grace, we still hold to the view that when a person trusts Jesus Christ as their Saviour, the next step on their journey as a Christian, is to be baptised by full immersion and added to their local church of God.
We are formally linked with a worldwide fellowship of churches, all of whom teach and practise the things that were mandated by the Lord Jesus after His resurrection, implemented by His early disciples, and passed down to us in the New Testament writings which we take as our ‘blueprint’ for how followers of Christ ought to serve and worship God.
